Machinery Technician

As a mechanic in the Gulf of Alaska:

I serviced all of the maintenance requirements for:two main propulsion diesel engines (Paxman 16 cylinder, 2880 HP), two electrical power generators (Caterpillar 3304-BT & Kato 4P2-0963 420V 60 kW), ship's water purification system (Reverse osmosis for 1,700 gallon capacity), hydraulic systems (crane, steering, stabilization systems)ship's vacuum sewage system & ship's plumbing, ship's air conditioning and refrigeration units,ship's hazardous materials management in compliance with environmental and industrial regulations.

As a mechanic in the Gulf of Mexico:

I serviced two fast response boats each propelled by three 300 HP Mercury Verado engines, I serviced two utility boats which were propelled by two Cummins VT-903M engines, and I performed troubleshooting of the unit's different electrical system.

As a search and rescue first responder in the Gulf of Mexico:

 I served as both as a dispatch on scene leader and radio dispatcher. Knowledge of boat operation, seamanship, first aid, and navigation were requirements in administering and teaching staff and the general public.

As a federal law enforcement officer in the Gulf of Mexico:

I served the maritime community through enforcement of safe boating laws, authorized fishing laws, commercial shipping laws, industrial pollution laws, and customs & immigration laws. Even though enforcement involved apprehending criminals and citing violators of various regulations, the most effective measure of deterring crime has been through educating the public and positively influencing other to understand the law and choose to comply with them. A specialized focus in maritime law enforcement was: federal protection, enforcement, & education of protected Gulf of Mexico and Gulf of Alaska marine species, their ecosystem & rules regarding commercial harvesting & conservation awareness practices..
